Lady in Berlin

Berlin was full of people on bikes, but one lady in particular caught my eye as she peddled her tiny poodle around the city. I originally sketched this illustration out while I was back at my dad's house in Germany, and I finally got around to colouring it up properly yesterday.

I coloured this all entirely digitally, and thanks to taking a bit of time to have a play around in Photoshop, I think I managed to colour it in a new way that helped it to feel less obviously digital and less flat. While at uni I felt that I never really had the time to simply sit and explore new techniques because deadlines were ever looming, so it's been nice to really see what I can do if I mix up my process a little bit. I love sketching entirely in pencil because it feels free and unrestricted, so to have found a means of colouring my pencil sketches in a way that I don't entirely hate is really exciting for me.

The more I've looked at this the more I realise that I enjoy these two characters as a duo, so as ever, I've made a note of them and will *hopefully* get around to exploring them a little bit more in the coming future.

    1. Thank you! I'd never actually considered a process post, but I'll see what I can do the next time I colour up a piece digitally :)
