yesterday the sun decided to momentarily hide away, so while i wasn't a totally gross sweaty mess i decided to grab some quick outfit shots. since buying my first midi skirt, i've been totally loving having the extra bit of material to my knees and in turn worrying less about unwanted bum shows, so when i spied this in the new look sale i knew it had to be mine. it's a lovely light material so is perfect for the warmer weather, but i think due to the colours it'll also make a fab transitional piece into my winter wardrobe paired with a collared shirt and jumper – anybody else buy clothes with all the seasons in mind?!

as the sun's taken itself away for a while, we've approached the awkward rainy-but-not-cold weather, so today i've had to take back to my bedroom to take my outfit snaps to avoid getting drenched – ah well, it was nice while it lasted! today i seem to have thrown together my most '90s inspired' outfit to date, teaming up my choker, docs and mom jeans for an altogether slouchy, somewhat boyish outfit.

i'm going out shopping to a retail park today, so a pair of jeans and a light jacket mean i'll be able to head in and out of shops without overheating too badly and without feeling silly for having worn a skirt with no tights on this somewhat gloomy day, although the fact that the weather's overcast in no way dictates how warm it is out, but hey ho!

as of late i've felt my blog become a little monotonous and stale due to the posts i write in advance and schedule to post on certain days, so because the academic year's coming to an end and i'll soon have a lot more time on my hands to blog, i've decided to try and make my blog a little more organic by posting outfits on the days i wear them instead of shooting them in advance. i still have some posts backed up for the next few weeks so i'll go ahead posting those as i'd planned, however there may be the odd couple thrown in on top of them depending on how much time i have! i'm hoping throughout the summer to post a little more regularly and true to life, so fingers crossed for it all going to plan!

yesterday i nipped to town to pick up a couple of things for my trip to new york (i go on saturday, eek!) and ended up picking this dress up after having a nosey around the new look sale. it was only a fiver so i suppose it doesn't really matter that i have too many dresses! i'd seen a few dresses with this neckline before, mostly on motel, and really wanted to buy one, however i really didn't want to pay motel prices for one, so this was the perfect compromise. i'm looking forward to wearing it alone in the summer with some chunky sandals, however for the time being i love it equally on top of a shirt and paired with chunky boots and a leather jacket. bargain!

these dungarees are an item that often get shoved into a drawer and forgotten about, mainly because i'm forgetful and own too many clothes, but also because i always feel so self conscious about wearing shorts in winter, even with a big cosy pair of tights on. i recently purchased this blouse from the primark sale for a fiver, and instead of teaming it up with a typical pinny dress like i normally would, i pulled these dungarees out from the dark depths of my memory (and also the dark depths of my shorts/trousers/dungaree drawer) and gave it a try.

i really love the combination of the leather and the leopard print, but i just can't help but feel that the opaque tights take away from the overall look somewhat. perhaps this outfit will be something i'll be happier to sport more when the weather warms up and i can happily wear my 10 denier tights again! ah, the perils of living in a country with such an up and down climate. i often fantasise about how great it would be to live abroad in a country with a constantly warm climate, not only for the fantastic sunshine, but for the fact that i wouldn't need separate wardrobes for every season...

for a while i'd been eyeing up the leather pinafore dress in primark, but every time i walked past it i told myself i didn't need it (probably still true...) however, when i spied these leather dunagrees in the new look sale for just £8, i couldn't say no. where is my will power?! i don't know.

as much as i hate myself for spending money where it's not necessary, i'm very, very happy with these dungarees. all it takes is these, some bold red lippy and my bowler for me to feel fab! i find the dungaree/blouse combination a tad plain, so to make things i little more interesting i chose to accessorise with some spiked jewellery to give the outfit a little bit of edge in an attempt to make it look less 'formal'.

i'm currently gritting my teeth and just dealing with how wide my hips are in the top two pictures... swiftly moving on! you may have noticed that my hair here is significantly shorter. if you weren't aware, this isn't because i've gone for a massive chop, but because i've taken my extensions out. i've grown tired of them getting knotted, constantly washing and colouring them and generally just having to deal with them on a day to day basis, so i've said to myself that i'm going to make an effort to give them up altogether! i'm expecting it'll be quite difficult for me as i've worn extensions now since i was about 15...

if you're wondering why my hair's failed to grow an adequate amount in almost five years, it's simply because i'm a fiend with hair dye. i always get bored with my hair style/colour and then opt for a new look by either dying it or chopping it, thus either shortening it or damaging it, so growing it is a massive chore. just over a year ago i had a terrible haircut where my layers were cut so terribly short (never again,) and i've just about grown the layers back, meaning my hair now has some body to it. length is a work in progress, but in the mean time, i'm happy that i can use what hair i do have to create a certain amount of volume.

outfit wise, i adore my joni jeans. admittedly, they're not too flattering in photos, but in life they make me feel fab and are so, so comfy. i picked the crop top up on a whim because it was adorable and just £6 in the sale, and the same goes for my shoes. every time i see a pair of shoes in a charity shop that a) i like and b) fit me, i feel compelled to buy them, and these shoes were just so adorably ugly that i couldn't leave them on the shelf!
