etsy shop sale: everything £5 and under

as i was wading through my possessions over the weekend, i stumbled upon a load of old stock that had expired on my etsy page. i'm hoping once uni's over and done with i'll land on my feet and end up moving out somewhere, so in preparation for such events i thought i'd try to shift some stock and free up some space by reducing it all and popping it back up for sale in my etsy shop. here's what i have to offer...

so after spending a while playing around with clay, i've finally gotten around to adding my creations to my etsy shop for you to snap up if you so wish it!

i've had lots of fun creating my doggy magnets, and one could be yours to keep your notes looking cute on your fridge (or to simply just add some doggy decor to your surroundings as they'll stick to most metallic surfaces) for just £5! i'm happy to create different colours of the breeds i've listed, and i'm also happy to create some new breeds altogether, so if you'd be interested in a jack russell, bulldog or perhaps a pomeranian, please do feel free to email me at robynmakesthings@gmail.com and i should be able to arrange that for you!

i've also listed some of the items i made surrounding my 'afternoon tea' theme, so if you'd like a dainty little teapot, cupcake or yummy slice of cake to wear around your neck, you can do so for £8! i'm not too sure if i'll be making any of these again because they're fairly time consuming, but only time will tell.

"every girl needs a superhero"

it was one of my friends' birthdays at the very end of august, and instead of opting for the 'safe' birthday present option (which last year was a bottle of cherry sourz, typical student essential) this year, i decided to think more in depth about what it was that my friend actually liked, and from there went on to produce this necklace and birthday card.

if it's not already obvious, my friend really, really likes superheroes. i remembered a shirt she wore once that said "every girl needs a superhero" on it, so i used that as my inspiration for the necklace design, which is supposed to capture superman flying through the clouds to save his damsel in distress (or whatever it is you call them these days,) aw. i really liked how all the components sit when worn under a necklace, so hopefully my friend will like it, too!

the card is a pretty simple idea, just a line up of some of her favourite superheroes (minus iron man who wasn't 'man' enough for me to be able to draw him... sorry emily, if you're reading!) wishing her a super birthday... brilliant use of words, i know. big buff men (which is essentially all superheroes are!) aren't really my forte, so i went with what i knew and decided to cute up the superheroes as much as i could while still having them look somewhat... super? either way, i'm pretty pleased with how they all came out, a challenge i was very glad i pursued!

poodles & products

hello all, here's something a little different from me today! i figured that all my favourite blogs, be they based around illustration, beauty, lifestyle or fashion, all have a somewhat personal feel to them which i really like; i find being able to put a face to a name helps me become more involved and interested in a blog, for whatever strange reason; so i decided that i was gonna go ahead and make my blog a little more personal. i won't become a blog that constantly posts ootds or incessantly rambles on about my daily doings, however i won't shy away from the occasional post that may relate to what i'm doing creatively that may involve photographs of my life or anything that may be influencing me creatively lately. basically, i just want you guys to maybe feel like you know a little more about me, because at the minute, i get the sense that perhaps none of my followers know anything about me at all!

so, introductions aside, here i want to introduce you to my poodle puppy, ziggy, who we've had for around 6 weeks now. she's a very naughty little character (but also a very cute one) and you may have seen her make an appearance in my 'what i would've wore today' post a couple of weeks back.

i also styled one of my necklaces on a day out shopping a few days back (shameless self promotion, i know) and i found that the simplistic designs and monochrome colour scheme sit really well with my new motel dress which i absolutely adore. maybe i'll experiment with a more colourful outfit next time! also, if any of you have purchased any of my jewellery, i'd love to see how you've styled it yourself, so please feel free to tweet any pictures you may have to me!

etsy shop opening & giveaway!

hello all!

it's been a while since i last posted, but i'm happy to announce that in my absence i've been working on products that will now be for sale in my new etsy shop!

as you can see above, at the moment i have a selection of necklaces, stickers and notebooks currently for sale. i've also been toying with the idea of earrings and rings, however i'm not too sure about whether they'd be as popular as necklaces! so please, if you have a spare moment, leave me a comment below or tweet me to let me know your thoughts on earrings and rings :)

the basic idea for the illustrations came about while working on my final university project that looked at rainforest animals, so i figured why not celebrate the animals typically associated with other places in the world?! in the end, i chose to focus on woodland animals, antarctic animals and australian animals as well as my rainforest animals and drew them up as simply and charmingly as possible!

and now for the giveaway!

i am giving away my initial trials of jewellery, which just so happened to be rings and earrings! as you can see above, they're all packaged up and ready to go! these designs aren't available in my etsy shop, so you could win something completely unique. there are four prizes in total, and each prize will consist of a ring and a pair of earrings illustrated with either a sloth, parrot, lemur or orangutan. due to the handmade nature of the items, if you win, please be mindful of them and be gentle with them to avoid breakages and keep them away from water; wouldn't want to spoil your winnings!
